What Did I Learn My First Year With Tower Garden And Growing Our Own Fruits And Vegetables?

This was my first year growing our own fruits and vegetables in our #TowerGarden.

What did I learn?  Lots!!

I learned the taste of #homegrown is better than store bought.

I learned you can grow almost anything in the Tower Garden with a high yield quickly.

I learned that you don't have to use harmful and hazardous pesticides in your garden.

Birds didn't bother it and neither did bugs and hummingbirds gather to it.

I learned you don't have to be a farmer to have a garden and it's ok to be a beginner!  I also learned it's cheaper than raised beds.

I learned it's easy to maintain and a true enjoyment to watch it change nearly everyday.

I learned that a lot of people want one and some think they are too expensive.  Some say you can build one for a fraction of the cost, perhaps, but not one that looks like this.

https://www.facebook.com/KCMOTowerGardenI learned that my iPhone can hold more than 5000 pictures mostly of the #TowerGarden 's daily changes. LOL

These are just some of the things I grew: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers (big and small) basil, lettuce, lavendar, zuchinni, squash.

I've cut back the tomatoes today since it's cool.  The rest of the tomatoes will have to ripen on the patio table.  I feel a sense of loss since it's been such an everyday part of our lives for months... but it's been a BLAST!  I still have some peppers and a few cantaloupe going!

Happy June 1st From KCMO #TowerGarden *GROWTH UPDATE*

We, like many others have had some really whacky weather here in Kansas City!  But that hasn't stopped the #TowerGarden from growing like a weed.  Did I say, "Weed?"   How silly of me, there are NO WEEDS in the #TowerGarden.

The Tower Garden is an aeroponic vertical growing system.  It needs no dirt, no tilling, no weeding, no kneeling, no getting dirty.  Basically you just add water and nutrients in the water.

I've never been a fruit and vegetable farmer, but with concerns over products coming from another country and pesticides and who knows what else.... I decided to give it a try.  In fact I'm now a Direct Distributor for #TowerGarden and #JuicePlus, a whole food supplement.

We started our seeds in March in the house, by the dining room window.  When we got a taste of summer we were excited to get out #TowerGarden full of our little seedlings.  But thanks to our weather I ended up having to bring them back in about 4 times before I was able to leave them out there for the season.

Within a week and a half we were so thrilled with the Tower Garden that we purchased two extensions for it which meant room for 8 more plants to the original 20.  We also purchased the tomato cage because at the rate they were growing, those plants were going to need something for support.
First my husband installed the tomato cage by following the directions included.  Setting the guide rods and matching up the holes is pretty much the technical part of it.  Not bad at all.  He had the tomato cage on in nothing flat!

Then he inserting the guide rods for the extensions and added the two tiers.  I'd say he had it together in approximately 30 minutes.

We have had the extra tiers on since May 22nd and today is June 1, just a week and a half, and it is utterly amazing how this thing has grown.

I check the water in it every 4 days because with the extensions I do not want the water level down because it has to have enough for the puymp to shoot it all the way to the top of the tower.  I probably add about 2-4 gallons of water per week.  And I check the pH every week.  You want to keep it between 5.5 to 7.0.  You get all the nutrients, pH checking kit, pH up and pH down with the Tower Garden kit.  You also get the pump, tiers to plant 20 plants and all the seeds and rock wool to start the seeds in.

So on the left is the Tower Garden on May 22, 2013 and on the right is June 1, 2013.

It's just blowing my mind!

If you would like additional information about the Tower Garden I would be more than happy to answer your questions via email

Until Next Time.

#TowerGarden Vertical Aeroponic System:Grow Your Own

It's been a few weeks since I've posted, honestly I've been so busy enjoying the Tower Garden!

We have harvested some lettuce from it and it is so much more tasty than what you get in the store. I really didn't know lettuce could taste so good.

We also have added two tiers to the top and a tomato cage so the tomatoes can have some support because they are growing like crazy!

Most evenings, when its not raining like it has been of late, we sit on the deck enjoying the Tower Garden here in Kansas City.

What In The World Is An Aeroponic Tower Garden?

http://www.kcmo.towergarden.com
A Tower Garden is a vertical, aeroponic growing system that can fit on your deck, porch, patio or balcony.  You can also place them in your yard.

It uses no dirt, only water with nutrients in it.  So there is no tilling, weeding, kneeling, dirty hands or anything of the sorts!  It's so easy to get started and grow your own fruits and vegetables right in arms reach!

Assemble the Tower Garden
When you order your Tower Garden, everything you need comes with it:  The tower, the pump, the hose, rock wool, nutrients and seeds to get you started!

Probably the most difficult thing about the Tower Garden is putting it together and THAT isn't even hard.
Takes 15 minutes.

When you get your Tower Garden it will be shipped directly to your home.  No need to leave the house.  It's the latest thing in Urban Gardening.  Due to some Homeowners Association rules some neighborhoods cannot even have gardens, but with the Tower Garden that's not a problem!!

You should start your seeds inside and when they get to be nice little seedlings you can put them in the baskets and place in the Tower Garden.

Your Tower Garden will come with detailed descriptions for assembly and usage.
With all the pesticides, GMO, etc. it's great growing your own fruits and vegetables and not have to worry where your food came from.
