What is Aeroponics? What is Tower Garden? I Need More Information!

Hello,

First I just want to tell you that I am just an average mid-westerner. I was born and raised in Kansas City and spent most of my younger years riding horseback.

My father always had a garden, but I really think he had a garden just to say he had a garden because someone else always did the gardening.
I personally have never had a garden.  Well not fruits and vegetables anyway, but in the Spring I am an avid flower gardner. :)

With the movement to enjoying better health I thought we should try to #growourown fruits and vegetables.  To complete that we purchased a Tower Garden from someone who was going to travel with her husband in a motor home and didn't have the need for it any longer.

We started our first seeds indoors in March.  With the weird winter weather that kept hanging on in Kansas City it was the end of the first week in May before we could actually keep the seedlings outside in the Tower Garden.

WOW, my first garden.  It's literally amazing me.  All the things I have read about Tower Garden on my Tower Garden website have really sparked my interest in growing my own vegetables and eating healthier.

I would have to say that my experience thus far has been extremely successful and the Tower Garden is easy to assemble, plant and watch.  I have no other gardening experience.  I guess you would call me a "newbie."

With my crunchy knees from so much horseback riding it's a
real BONUS to me that I don't have to walk over uneven ground to reap my crop.  I walk out on my deck... pick what I need... and EAT!

I'd like to thank you for following my page... and if you haven't any questions about the Tower Garden, please ask.  If I don't know the answer I'll try to find out for you!

Happy June 1st From KCMO #TowerGarden *GROWTH UPDATE*

We, like many others have had some really whacky weather here in Kansas City!  But that hasn't stopped the #TowerGarden from growing like a weed.  Did I say, "Weed?"   How silly of me, there are NO WEEDS in the #TowerGarden.

The Tower Garden is an aeroponic vertical growing system.  It needs no dirt, no tilling, no weeding, no kneeling, no getting dirty.  Basically you just add water and nutrients in the water.

I've never been a fruit and vegetable farmer, but with concerns over products coming from another country and pesticides and who knows what else.... I decided to give it a try.  In fact I'm now a Direct Distributor for #TowerGarden and #JuicePlus, a whole food supplement.

We started our seeds in March in the house, by the dining room window.  When we got a taste of summer we were excited to get out #TowerGarden full of our little seedlings.  But thanks to our weather I ended up having to bring them back in about 4 times before I was able to leave them out there for the season.

Within a week and a half we were so thrilled with the Tower Garden that we purchased two extensions for it which meant room for 8 more plants to the original 20.  We also purchased the tomato cage because at the rate they were growing, those plants were going to need something for support.
First my husband installed the tomato cage by following the directions included.  Setting the guide rods and matching up the holes is pretty much the technical part of it.  Not bad at all.  He had the tomato cage on in nothing flat!

Then he inserting the guide rods for the extensions and added the two tiers.  I'd say he had it together in approximately 30 minutes.

We have had the extra tiers on since May 22nd and today is June 1, just a week and a half, and it is utterly amazing how this thing has grown.

I check the water in it every 4 days because with the extensions I do not want the water level down because it has to have enough for the puymp to shoot it all the way to the top of the tower.  I probably add about 2-4 gallons of water per week.  And I check the pH every week.  You want to keep it between 5.5 to 7.0.  You get all the nutrients, pH checking kit, pH up and pH down with the Tower Garden kit.  You also get the pump, tiers to plant 20 plants and all the seeds and rock wool to start the seeds in.

So on the left is the Tower Garden on May 22, 2013 and on the right is June 1, 2013.

It's just blowing my mind!

#TowerGarden Vertical Aeroponic System:Grow Your Own

It's been a few weeks since I've posted, honestly I've been so busy enjoying the Tower Garden!

We have harvested some lettuce from it and it is so much more tasty than what you get in the store. I really didn't know lettuce could taste so good.

We also have added two tiers to the top and a tomato cage so the tomatoes can have some support because they are growing like crazy!

Most evenings, when its not raining like it has been of late, we sit on the deck enjoying the Tower Garden here in Kansas City.
